What is a sacrifice?

Sacrifice = strategic maneuver = trusting the gut.

A Note from the CEO

A sacrifice: a strategic maneuver or tactic where one voluntarily relinquishes material in the immediate term, aiming to secure an advantage later through a predetermined sequence of moves.

Chess teachers will tell you to make sure you are 100%, positively, absolutely sure that the “sacrifice” you want to make truly works and has no loop-holes.

“Are you absolutely sure no one can take you or that the king can’t escape?”

Why give up a piece for free when your opponent might have something up their sleeve?

In life, we need to make sacrifices. Unlike in chess, sometimes we can’t fully calculate whether or not it will pay off.

When I started Queens Gambit, I had no idea if the move to form a nonprofit would work.

But, I had a gut feeling and did it anyway.

I calculated as much as I possibly could and determined the benefits outweighed any negativities.

I’m so glad I did.

Sacrifice = strategic maneuver = trusting the gut.
